Centre 8 are meeting up at Frankley services M5 South Bound at 0800 for 0830 depart all those wishing to join on with us are more than welcombe,we are booking the 1100-1200 booking in slot and hopefully all VSOC members will be able to ride as one block,hope to see a good turn out and look forward to seeing all old and new friends and havinf a good day out

INTERNATIONAL RALLY - HOLLAND

Taff has recived an e mail from the chairman of the VSOC . He is colating all the information on who is going to the International in Holland and requires names by April. Any members wishing to go please contact Taff and he will colate all information from our centre and pass on to the Chairman. All information must be in before April as ferries have to be booked and the Dutch need to know how many will be attending as food is included in the price of ticket. Taff will be going to the rally and hope that many members of C8 will attending also.

Have you put ICE in your mobile?

Putting ICE along with a name and telephone number will enable the emergency services to contact your family in the event of an emergency.

Apparently this is a standard procedure all paramedics follow at the scene of an accident when they come across your cell phone.

ICE - 'In Case of Emergency'

Eight out of 10 people carry no next of kin details. Yet 80% carry a mobile phone, most of whom have it on them all the time. There is no simpler way of letting the emergency services know who to contact should you be involved in an accident than by using ICE.

If we were to be involved in an accident or were taken ill, the people attending us would have our mobile phone but wouldn't know who to call. Yes, there are hundreds of numbers stored but which one is the contact person in case of an emergency? Hence this 'ICE' (In Case of Emergency) Campaign.

The concept of 'ICE' is catching on quickly. It is a method of contact during emergency situations. As cell (mobile) phones are carried by the majority of the population, all you need to do is store the number of a contact person or persons who should be contacted during emergency under the name 'ICE' Standing for In Case of Emergency, ICE will allow ambulance crews and police officers to quickly contact a nominated person who can be informed of the incident.

The idea was thought up by a paramedic who found that when he went to the scenes of accidents, there were always mobile phones with patients, but they didn't know which number to call. He therefore thought that it would be a good idea if there was a nationally recognized name for this purpose. In an emergency situation, Emergency Service personnel and hospital Staff would be able to quickly contact the right person by simply dialling the number you have stored as 'ICE.'

Type the acronym ICE followed by a contact name (for example, ICE - mum or ICE - David) into the address book of your mobile phone.
Save their phone number.
Tell your ICE contact that you have nominated them

A great idea that will make a difference!

Let's spread the concept of ICE by storing an ICE number in our Mobile phones today! Please forward this. It won't take too many 'forwards' before everybody will know about this. It really could save your life, or put a loved one's mind at rest. ICE will speak for you when you are not able to.

Now this is a really good idea.
