Statement from your Rep

I feel that I need to bring a few things to the attention of the membership

1. There are rumours circulating that either myself or the committee are trying to get members of the Road Runners Cruiser Club Banned from the VSOC. This is untrue I do not have any issues with any member of C8 being a member of any other Club or wearing their regalia on their club jackets. The only issues that there would be is displaying patches or side patches or supporting patches of the 2 major patch clubs.

2. Regarding the ‘Disturbing News’ entry on the Forum

National Committee have been in touch with the person concerned and that person has stated that he will not be renewing his membership with the VSOC. After talks with National he was not prepared to accept the stipulations imposed on him and his new club. That is:

that he would have to wear VSOC regalia at all VSOC Rallies and Parties.
He would not be able to promote his club at VSOC Rallies or Parties.
Members of the Road Runners that were not members of the VSOC would not be allowed at VSOC events as guests.

3. Members wishing to transfer to other centres

There have been a number of requests for certain members to transfer to other centres. If this is what you want to do then I have no objection to this but would appreciate the courtesy of being advised of the reasons for the decision. Unlike certain people that made a big show of telling other Centre Reps at our Halloween party that they were not displaying any C8 badges or patches and also other members putting their club jackets up for sale and others putting statements onto the forum that they wanted nothing more to do with C8.

These people also applied for tickets to the Jump Start under C5 without the C5 rep knowing this was happening.

4. One last point

A Founder member of the Road Runners approached me at Grum's Funeral. This person made a personal threat against myself. If I had wanted this person banned I could have imposed rule 1,5a banning him from all C8 events and meetings and then taken it to National to have him banned, as they attempted to do with Steve Lee.

We did have a meeting with representatives from National which they requested before the Post Christmas party and various things were discussed as members of RCOC had been in contact with them.

The committee and I would like to draw a line under this whole episode and focus on the future of the Centre 8. We are resolved to bring back the camaraderie and enjoyment we used to have as a club, after all, it’s a hobby.

Many Centres attend the International event each year with fantastic numbers always doing the overseas trip.

The last few years, the attendance from the VSOC is as follows:

Finland 2008 - 77 - bearing in mind it was 4 days to get there and the same returning, a great effort

Sweden 2007 - 88

Denmark 2006 - 134

Holland 2005 - 288 - same venue as this year

Even if you cannot attend this year, it's Denmark next year 2011, where the roads are empty. Always the 2nd week-end of June, and May & June are the sunnier months in Scandinavia, so plan ahead.

Ian and Tina have decided to walk away from the VSOC after the trouble of the last few weeks. After all their years of hard work it is such a shame that they have left in this manner.

I too thought all the troubles were behind us but as the post christmas party was only a few weeks ago it shows just how current they are.

A forum is an online discussion area so I think this is an ideal area to keep all the members uptodate with current issues and allow their discussion.

I am concerned myself that this forum is being used to cause further issues within a Centre, that has now moved on from the recent issues which caused a split within C8.

Let me inform you of the actual facts surrounding recent events.

There was some issues between the current C8 Committee and certain members who chose other options, which of course is their prerogative to do. It is also true that the Vice Chairman & myself attended a meeting prior to the post Xmas Party to understand the issues in hand. There were certain recommendations which we took back with us, to analyse, discuss at Nat.Comm level, and decide what the best course of action should be for all, based on the evidence in hand.

To put the facts right, there were 5 memers mentioned and not 6. Two were not spoken to anyway, so only 3 people were discussed in any detail.

2 members have requested a move to C5, which has been accepted by the C5 Committee, but has only been ratified over the last 2 days by the Membership Secretary, and those "rubber stamping" the decision.

The other member (Ian Forkin) decided on his own back, to not renew his VSOC membership this year. Ian and I had an hours discussion a week or so ago, and one again yesterday for half an hour. The discussion was 100% amicable and both sides were in total agreement and understanding as why things were debated. I will also go on record to say that Ian, and indeed two other members, decided their own actions and did not have their memberships terminated, and were not refused VSOC renewals.

There is more detail attached to certain other members renewals, but that is between them and the VSOC, and not information for all unless the individuals wish to publicise it.

I hope this puts this topic to bed, and anyone that wishes to understand this in more detail should contact the Vice Chairman Peter Gauntlett or myself.

I can't speak for Ian, but I'm sure he will tell you exactly the same as is written here.

Just to say, the Centre Committee are there to represent the views of the Centre, but also to make decisions they see fit at times. If, on ocassions you feel those decisions do not represent your personal feelings, I'm sure they will listen to your opinion, and if you do not like the answer, vote someone else in at the next Centre AGM.

My only concern is that with this number of bikes (which I have never experienced) will it be one almighty traffic jam? How is that volume of bikes going to stick to a schedule on small Wiltshire roads, I really do not want to spend the day burning my clutch out!!!!!

just looked at the wootton bassett site and they are now saying no bikes will be going down the motorway on the run it seems to have gotten out of handbut we are still going anyway, i am going down the m5 to 11a and taking the road up to the air balloon pub and then the A417 and then cutting across country and hopefully getting into leigh delemare services from the back if this is still the meeting place. I dont think it will be somehow i have heard mention of swindon football ground as the meeting place but we will have to wait and see, i,ll keep logging on for any info.

Tickets €50 for weekend – Breakfast and Dinner included

The VSOC have commented that Centre 8 have been conspicuous with their absence at International Rally events abroad in the past. This is mainly due to other events in direct opposition on offer to members which are in this country. When left with a choice the local option looks more appealing.

We will be openly encouraging members to have that one trip abroad to the International Rally in Holland.

I have attended two rallies in Holland in previous years and both have been great events, the food is supplied and included in the ticket price, as is normal at these events. The guys make you welcome and speak great English... you buy beer by the jug, bands play well known rock stuff and there is loads of water.

Ferries are running from Harwich to Hook of Holland then it is 125 miles riding west towards Germany. This is an experience all of its own, but you will be riding with the rest of the VSOC, who take over 100 folk to these rallies.

If anyone is interested, please approach one of the committee and let it be known, also please post your interest on this site.

Hi everyone... I was looking at the link on the Facebook site and have seen the following posted whiich confirms Mark's understanding.

Update!: Monday 8th February 2010 2030

After the meeting today with the authorities and the unprecedented response from the biking community we have been asked to close registration one week early. It will unfortunately NOT be re-opening.

We would like to reassure everyone that the ride IS GOING AHEAD WITH the FULL support of the police and local authorities. We have spoken to a few local businesses who are all looking forward to the day. ALL bikes will be riding through Wootton Bassett no matter what you may have heard.

Plan details re: routes, times, wristbands, will be made available in document format soon. We have another meeting with the police next week to discuss the finer details.
We can confirm that we will NOT be riding on any stretches of the motorway.

We would like to apologise to anybody who has not registered however wanted to join us, we thank everybody for their patience and support.

Like Rodders I also attempted to register but came accross a closed registry. If anyone from Centre 8 has registered or just wants to join the run can you confirm your name through this site and whether you will be joining the run organised by Mark.

If the organised meet places like motorway services, then we may be able to ask at national level which VSOC centre are being represented and we may be ablle to ride in with them.

then down motorway to M4 junction 17 liegh services ita about 100 miles we must be at these services for 10 30

the bike will start to leave here at 12 into watton then on to RAF lyncham were we have cuppa etc

u must be registered to get in to the base closing date is 15 feb

at the moment there are nearly 8000 bikes reg and over 10 000 people

It was a great night... the venue was good, beer was fine, music was a good mixture and great company.

Thank you all Centre 8 members who attended and made this a successful fantastic and anjoyable night. We took £161 from the raffle and £1 draw which has been handed over to Allison from Centre 4 in the North East for her to hand over to the colection for Grum's charities.

I would like to thank those members of Centre 8 that were able to attend Grum’s funeral on Thursday. The VSOC was represented by Centres 2, 4, 5, 6, 8, 9 and 10 including some old members who have not been involved in the club for a few years.

To our member Roger, who has worked tirelessly to support Grum’s family in organising the friends’ element of the day, well done mate. I’m so sorry you lost your best friend and we will have that memorial run later in the year to celebrate his life again.

Centre 8 placed a wreath from its members in the pattern of the centre logo which Grum designed with Roger... a brilliant thought from Taff and Kennif.

Grum’s sisters and family were very pleased to see so many biker friends travel such distances to celebrate Grum’s life at this Humanists funeral and to pay their respects in their own way.

I have been so blessed to have known and been a friend of Grum and will miss him loads.

i thought it was about time i got on this new fangled technoligy thingy, i would like to say how good it was to see so any members turn up at the meeting before xmas and then again at the meeting after xmas even though it was bloody freezing. I am looking forward to the after xmas party. And last of all i would to say how sad it was to here of the passing of grum only met him a few times but i liked him a lot he will be sadly missed.

Hi Dave yeah it would be good if we could have done this as a club instead of just little individual groups I will be doing it again this year and as soon as the registration opens in March I will be signing up for it.

I go into hospital on Thursday 14th and have my op on Friday so doubt I will make the club meet on Sunday as not sure what day I will be out of hospital and wont be able to drive for at least three weeks. See you all at the post xmas party.

Grum was a very nice person,he was one of the people that if you went to a rally you looked for or was noticed by his absence if not there when you arrived.

I can rememeber him and Rolling keeping us all awake at Tonna with their renditioning of Booboo Bear and the same 2 coruses over and over for about an hour,then later on seeing Grum and Allison at events and like Allison has said what a dancer

I totally agree with your comments, the only thing that concerns me is that there does seem to be a golden silence on the matter. Either no one has the balls to make the decision or some people are so far up each others arses that they could not be bothered about the future of a once proud club and are on a power struggle. All the members that have joined centre 8 did so for one reason and that is to fulfil their hobby, make good friends and drink some beer and generally have some fun.

When it does not become fun anymore people will as has been stated walk, and from the lack of response from our so called leaders then I would have to say that they are prepared for a loss of membership and P*ssI*g in the faces of the people who have worked extremely hard to move the club forward with no regard or insight into the bigger picture.

This situation will rebound to other centres due to the fact that the top table will make decisions without a proper consultation with the members concerned on such a serious issue, but one thing to remember is that there is no continuity from the top table with regard to the type of issue. That is the wrong signal to send out especially when the UK membership is generally down, word will spread like wildfire in the biker community and I think people will think twice before joining an organisation with no real values, it actually sends out a signal that you can beat people up and get away with it.

But I stand by my previous comment that there are people locally and people from the top table that are so far up each others arses that they conld'nt give a dam what we think.

Taff can you get your head out of the sand and please answer my question and other member’s questions that have been asked. Are you or are you not the MEMBERS REPERSENTATIVE for our club? …. YES then listen to us and do something about SL this is not going to go away. What happened to the vote about SL coming back? You should be talking to Kevin and saying that quite a few members don’t want him back; so for the good of the club and these we should have a postal vote (a vote that does not have the member’s number on; for those who are concerned about any repercussions of the vote. The envelopes should be opened at a meeting in front of the members not behind closed doors on a set date possibly a Sunday because that’s when most of the members attend the meetings) this then will solve the problem; if the vote says that he comes back; then me and everyone else that does not want him back will have to live with it or leave the club. I feel this is the only way to resolve the situation. It would be intresting to see what other members feel about my comment also.

So what you, the club committee and the national committee are saying is IT IS OK TO HIT MEMBERS, THREATEN MEMBERS (MALES AND FEAMALES), GET MEMBERS TO DO YOUR DIRTY WORK; WHEN YOU WHANT TO HIT A MEMBER OF THE PUBLIC, IS OK. So in other words you can do what you want to any member of the VSOC and not lose your membership and be welcomed into the club with open arms. What I would like other members to think about if it was your wife he had threatened would you be happy about him being allowed back into OUR CLUB; not the committee’s club or the nationals club but OURS.

I have been a member of centre 8 for nearly 9 years and for 8 of them years on the committee and never in all that time as anyone hit another member; I can not believe that Steve Lee is being allowed to get away with this. All I can say is well if anyone wants to hit Steve Lee for his actions it is ok because you will not get kicked out of the club or lose your national membership WHAT A JOKE

But what I mean is, although every centre does have to obey the VSOC rules, they do have indivual powers at a centre level. If you Taff are always on future issues ,going to go with whatever you are told by the top table, then why does any centre need a centre rep.

i have not got a clue whats going on ( i was in blackpool sorry i could not make it ) but why did no one stand against the people for the new commtiee it looks like there are things still underhanded going on . Yes i tried to get the club to pull together like new blood but if no one stood why start throwing dummies out after . AS for SL i tried at christmas after he hit den to get somthing done but the commitiee then said they would sort it .so its not just the new one ( i think it was because it was only den)

I have tried to keep a dignified silence over this. However, the MCC turned up, told me they had come mob handed to sort us out and of course my natural reaction is to tell Jem everything was OK and he could go home. I do not think so. I asked him, as the New Committee to sort things out with the MCC. Debbie was there she will support this.

We were badly let down and left to drown. The only thing that got us out of the mire was a call to Ian, who saved our bacon. Thanks Ian

I am disgusted and deeply disappointed that a Thug can be let into our centre and I, for one, have to sit in the same room as him, knowing he has threatened me and I have reported him to the Police.

Just stop and think how all you men would feel, if it was your wife he was threatening. I know one or two said that "I should have thumped him". I wouldn't stoop as low as he does, by "thumping" him - but when the man hasn't the guts to return my phone call after he sent me the text - then it just proves what a coward he really is - cannot talk to anyone face to face, has to hide behind a text !!!

No disrespect to the National Committee, but they haven't a clue or any idea of the background with Steve Lee.

As for me, I am OUT of Centre 8. I am not giong to attend any functions, meets etc. under C8 "Hat".

And to further rub my nose in it, not one single member of our new committee have contacted us to see if we are OK from our events of Sunday - bloody disgusting.

After the Agm on Sunday I have taken advice from the National Commitee and it is quite clear that their decision is final ,to this end Steve (Conan) lee will be allowed back into all center 8 meetings and events from 1st Feuary 2010.

No further discussions will be held on this subject as this decision is final!.

Further to our discussion regarding Steve Lee I would like to confirm that the Executive Committee made a decision re his membership on the 8th November 2009 which is not open for further discussion at centre level. The matter as far as we are concerned is now closed.

let me assure you gem there is NO DRAMATISATION OR EXAGGERATION in the other posts, you obviously were not there, when we had to clear everything would it of hurt you to wait around and see that we were ok?? called to see what the outcome was?? to be totally honest did any of you care what happened to us at all???? still you havent asked if we are ok?? you have used this post to cause more bad feelings, i know you havent been part of the club for a while and i have only joined a few years but believe me this is not what our club was all about. it use to be a happy fun place to be...

and i am certain even put my life on it when i joined the club rep (ian) would NEVER EVER have left 4 member (2 women and 2 men 1of which was in a wheelchair) to deal with the shit you left us with, even if it wasnt him that had organised it, that is the poorest excuse i have ever heard, it was cowardly and unforgivable concidering as you yourself have said just before leaving we spoke as friends -- answer me one thing... Who leaves friends??? if you treat friends like this god help your enemies ..

in your favour at least youve answered this what has happened to our "new rep" or is it as many club members think it is taffy might be rep but you pull the strings??

i was very disappointed at the AGM meeting to learn that a dicision was made to allow a member to return to the club whos behaviour has been to say the least intimidating, threatening and violent towards other club members,

had the members who had been on the reciveing end of this mans inappropriate behaviour reported him to the police he would have been facing charges and answering to a judge by now . however they decided to put their trust in the club committee for them to deal with the situation and hopefuly do the right thing, and at the same time the message would go out that this type of behaviour was not welcome and would not be tolerated from any members.

this has been a long ongoing issue and a concern which should have been delt with had the previous committee been given support from all the members to do their job. i dont feel i want to spend my time looking over my sholder when i spend time at the club or on events just in case this person decides he wants to push his weight about again.

i dont enjoy seeing people who i reguard as friends (ALL CLUB MEMBERS) being upset, threatened or attacked. and certainly not females. i have my principles and have to live by them. so it is very unfortunate for me that i have to say i can no longer give my support to any organisation which allows and promotes this type of behaviour, i say promotes because that is what is being shown by allowing this man back in the club. (its ok violence is allowed)

i joined a bike club to meet likeminded people, go out for ride outs with fun loving bikers and have a good time, this i have had for three years and meet so many nice people. however the last year has been a lot of bad feeling and people are being draged into situations that has nothing to do with riding or having fun and in my opinion this man has caused this bad feeling.

i wish you all well and sincerely hope you get back on track and that no one else falls victim to this mans temper. and thank you all for the time i have spent with you its been enjoyable. (BE NICE TO EACH OTHER)

We continue to take a lot of crap from the antagonists of this club... I’m sure it will not stop. But rather than work on hear say let’s have a few facts from someone who was there and 6 other people who witnessed this and can confirm the facts.

The AGM finished on time and was called to close by our chairperson Debbie. We friends had a dinner in the pub and why not; they were offering two roast meals for the price of one. Top deal!

We came from the restaurant and stopped to talk to Bob, Maria, Tiny and Debbie who promptly told us that we had been visited by a well known MC but continued with a statement that there was no issue, as Bob had spoken to them. I took this as it was said and believed we had no issue. We chatted for about ten minutes on various subjects and said our goodbyes to Bob, Marie and Debbie we made our way out into the entrance where Tiny came by and said that one of the MC lads had asked if we had cleared it with them before we booked the pub. I told him that I had not booked the pub and I understand the person who did was Bob (Bob had confirmed this to me on his arrival for the AGM, describing how he booked it in a conversation). Tiny then said he would go and have a word with Bob. We strolled out of the pub, over to the cars, said our goodbye’s to each other and set off. This was just a normal exit, by all accounts, of people from any pub at 15:50pm.

Unfortunately for some, this appears to be the cause for further dramatisation and exaggeration based on hearsay. There didn’t appear to be an issue when we left and we all seemed to be friendly with those four people we left in the pub.

I find it strange that within not even hours, the "New Committee" shot themselves right in the proverbial foot on Sunday...WELL DONE!!!

Like I said in my initial note, "As from today I have turned my back on a club that I was once proud to be part of and which a fully supported." This I did since 2001. However, I'm sure my decision will please one of you out there, god knows you've been banging on about me going back to Stoke enough times, it’s just a pity that you never had the B*LLS to tell me to my face, you know that we both know who you are...BLOODY SH*T STIRRER!!.

All I can say is thanks to everyone over the time I was in the club...(many of the good guys, and gals have since gone) for making my time at Centre Eight an enjoyable one . I think those people know who I mean. As for the rest of you, and there's ONLYa minority, believe me, I say to you....( )...I'm sure you know my feelings towards you, so maybe you could use your imagination in the space provided.

Just to end though, I've got a Centre Eight jacket going cheap, medium in size and well used but no rips, marks, etc. Anyone interested in it give me a call on 078910 31365 and make me an offer.

And Debbie did you really expect anything else from the new commitee, "pull in the boat jack I am aboard" comes to mind and again they did not have the BALLS to make a warranted decision over SL and give him the heave ho for the benefit of the remaining club members which I have no doubt now will be voting with their feet, I for one will not be renewing my Centre 8 membership unless they have the B*ll**ks to do the right thing

Never mind you sit in your little corners and ignore the rest of the new membership, and as for the national commitee who also never had the BALLS to make the right decision and decided to ignore the membership that was affected you to can count the number of members who will leave due to your inability to do the right thing, or are we just numbers and pound signs in your coffers, the latter I think.

Just a note to say a MASSIVE THANKS to the New Committee that is now running the club for the benefit of our members but not only that, looking after our members also so as to earn their respect, trust and support for the coming year.

As expected the AGM went to plan with Bob and Tina wrapping up a difficult year followed by the them stepping away with what only can be described as the "Muppet Show Reincarnated" stepping up to the plate. Everyone of the new Committee standing up to say a bit about themselves and how they want to take the club forward...all except Jan Orton, whose idea of telling people who she was resulted in a spouting off of dates for events for the year...cheers Jan for your input, now folks really know who and what you are about...errrr I think??

However, getting to the crux of this blog, I believe the "Committee" went for the celebratory "Committee Dinner" at the pub today whilst in the meantime after most of the club had dispersed there was a visit by the local MC.

Bob Rose, now the ex Rep of the club went looking for the Committee to explain the visit and told Jem (Taff I believe had since gone) and crew that they were required. Without too much of a long winded description of events, Jem (our new Vice Rep) and crew promptly pointed out Bob to the members of the MC as the person they needed to talk to, followed by them all running with their tails between their legs, got into a car and swiftly drove off, leaving Bob (in a wheelchair), Tiny, Maria and Debbie to deal with what was, without question a difficult situation and ultimately the NEW COMMITTEES problem, nothing to do with Bob at all, seeing that he was now no longer a Committee member.

Oh yes, show your colours early our NEW COMMITTEE...working for the good of our club, taking it forward, wanting members to support you...how does B****CKS sound. How can anyone support you when something like what happened today occurred and like a bunch of girls you decide to look for a sacrificial lamb or in this case lambs to save your own necks.

I for one have no intention of supporting Committee members that can, in a matter of hours of being elected do this to four members of our club. If they do this now, all I can say is watch out as you could be next.

Working for the club...my arse, supporting you...the majority I wouldn't p*** on you if you were on fire, angry...YOU BET I AM, purely for what you did today to members, but ultimately very good friends of mine. As from today I have turned my back on a club that I was once proud to be part of and which a fully supported. Maybe that was the intentional goal by others within our club...I'm sure I’ll/we'll never know.

Just as a final note, Bob did speak to the MC and explained what was going on today, without Bob, Maria, Tiny and Debbie to set the record straight you may have found things a whole lot more different today for your club.

Just thought I would put a happy thread on the forum as there don't seem to have been one for a while

Well I am happy anyway, I am finally feeling at one with my new bike a Honda CBF600 my expensive ornament has now become my favourite toy after yet another great ride out yesterday and some really good positive feed back about my riding ability. I even managed to avoid running into the back of a car full of numpty chav's who decided to stop dead just as we entered the slip road onto the A38 and the staggered riding when in a group really paid off as Drobess (tracey) and Hubby Bob who were behind me were also able to avoid an incident. So Horrace the Horrible Honda is now back to being called Harmony the Honda.

Another happy thing for me is I now have a loving partner called Mike (spanner) who some of you may have met at the Sunday Digby meet recently, we meet about a year ago at a bike club we both go to but like shy little kids even though there was a strong mutual attraction to each other neither of us had the courage to tell each other how we felt as we both thought the other was in a relationship which wasn't the case, no wonder they call me dippydora.

They say things come in threes and for me they have, I had a check up about my arm last week and am now going to have more surgery on it in january to see why I have lost even more use/strength in it over the last few months and hopefully this will show up what is happening and they can sort it out.

Most people know who I am but for those that dont.

I have been a member for over 5 years do most of the VSOC rallies and have attended all but 2 meetings over the past 2 years,I try to mix with every one and get on withe every one.

Various comitee members over the last couple of years have asked me to stand for positions on the comitee and owing to the upheavill in the center a large number of members were dissatisfied with how things were going on within the center and asked me to stand and I hope by doing so that we will be able to get back to enjoying ourselves once more by putting all the animosity behind us and drawing a line under it.

Ther were various issues that were brought up at meetings,the most serious was the issue of splitting the club and a vote was taken on this and the majority voted against this ,hopefully a completly new commitee will be given the opportunity and support of the club to try and build bridges where others have tried to form rifts.

If you the members want to be part of a center that knows how to have a good time and a center to be proud of the the only way forward is to draw a line under what has gone before and help those,whoever is elected to the various posts on the comitee to become one of the strongest and respected centers in the VSOC,by supporting centre and national events.

I agree with you Maria; I no everyone who is standing but don't think all the new members now all the committee that have put themselves forward, maybe if they are the only ones wanting to stand, ( I say this because if we have 10 -15 standing we could be there all day) at the AGM they have 5-10 mins each to say why they are standing and what they are going to bring to the club as a committee member.

For those people standing for the “New Blood Committee” this year, I think it would be a good idea for each person to write a paragraph or 2 about themselves and their reasons for why they are standing ie. What attributes can they bring with them “for the good of the Club”.

The reason I am saying this is because not everyone may have got to know all of the people standing, especially our new members of late. It would help them to understand their reasons for applying and to “get to know them” a bit better.

I am not sure how the vote takes place, but if the proposed Committee have a chance to say something at the AGM, and I know that time is tight, maybe the time would be more worthy spent on answering any questions that members may have, according to whatever they write on this site. Alternatively, if a postal vote is taking place, then a print-off of their comments should be posted with the form.

I know we are not very good at replying to this site, but does anyone else out there think this is a good idea or not?

I, for one would be very interested in reading their comments. I know I am not allowed to vote, but I feel I am a proactive member of Centre 8, and I do know most of the people pretty well, but would like to read their reasons on why they are applying and what attributes they can bring with them.

Chris, can you make this happen if need be please – can you put a “Thread or Link” on this site so that the people standing can write their comments.

from an article in MCN this week - given the way we are persecuted by police and other authorities at the moment - being pulled over without due cause - being handed ASBO type punishment causing bike confiscation - we propose the following solution..

At the next census [only 2 years away] we declare our religion to be 'BIKER' - this way as with Jedi, it will become a documented faith!

And as religious persecution is prevented in the UK by law...the police and the courts will have to follow a proper 'break the law and be punished' approach and not doing 'well you were not doing what we wanted ' attitude

This will ensure the cops will have to follow the law properly and result in random stopping and checks without good cause being a criminal offence!!

If Biker is to be a new religion [everyone is free to believe as they choose - why not more than one belief - i believe in SODS law after all] we could have anew patch!!...lol

Yes, it was a cracking night. Although I'm a new member of centre 8 I came with the black widows lot. I didn't use the evening to tell everyone I was new, I thought I'd save that for one of the meetings.

Even though I wasn't very well, I thoroughly enjoyed "people watching" - there was some sites which will stick in my mind for some time to come. Centre 8 can certainly party, I will say that much. Other Centres that joined in the fun, went home with big smiles, bad heads, attire worse for wear - but will certainly come again, that is for sure. Thanks Tina for all the running around you did during the lead up to the night and sorting us all out to decorate the room. A big Thank You tp the folk who looked after Bob and I (again !!).

Proposal to split the Club

I personally do not want Centre 8 to split. If every centre that had differing members did the same, the VSOC system would be a joke. All centres surely face the same issues, but behave in a grown up, tolerant fashion and learn to get along in harmony.

We should not all be expected to like the same things and do the same things and remain glued to each others sides. Just meet up and have fun in whatever way that person achieves fun!

Its time to stop holding grudges that are so old and petty most people dont even have a clue what its all about, including thoses involved.

Grown up and move forward, or remain childish and move elsewhere.

I am a relatively new member joining in Oct 97. To me Centre 8 is like a trade mark name within VSOC, it’s means o’shit it’s them and there’s loads of them ,we will not get much sleep tonight or what the fuck are they going to do on this rally !!!

I have made some great friends and feel that I am one of those stuck in the middle... Thinking why why why.

I spend most of my life working and the rest caring for my son (who is severely disabled) Centre 8 is my lifeline to escape. I have had bikes for a long time but never had a reason to go out and ride, Centre 8 provided that for me and I don’t want anyone to take that away from me.

All the shit that has gone on seems minor to me and we just need to stand tall and be proud to be a member of Centre 8.

If you want to see what a problem is just come to my house and see my son, you would certainly change your views and priorities on life as a whole (sorry I am not preaching!!)

With a large amount of people not all will get on, but that’s a part of life, it would be nice to see a little tolerance.

Any personal issues should stay personnel and not be dealt with in any club meetings.

It has long been said that there is a split in the membership of Centre8, with members supporting both the Left and the Right of the Club and many members stuck in the middle trying to remain neutral and make sense of it all.

Recent events seem to bear this out and with the election of a New Committee imminent the divisions seem to come to the fore all the more.

It is obvious that all the members of Centre8 have its future at heart but have a different view as to where its future lies.

Divisions within the Club have been discussed at all levels of the Club by its many members and even at National Committee level.

The greatest worry for the Club is that, far from bring the Club together an election of a new Committee will cause members to leave should certain factions of the Club elected.

New members sense the tension and split in the Cub and find it difficult to settle or remain. SOMETHING MUST BE DONE.

Discussions with the Committee and VSOC Committee resulted in the following suggestion. It is very much a suggestion and is voiced here to gauge people’s reactions and thoughts.

It is suggested that ............ Centre8 be broken into two separate Centres. Initially the split will be NON GEOGRAPHICAL to allow the factions to split amicably and into Centres of their choice. All existing Centre8 finance and assets be split proportionately to each Centre according to the proportionate split of existing members. Afterwards the Centre’s will be assigned a geographical area for new members.

In principle, with certain reservations and input, Kevin Hoyte feels that this suggestion could be supported by the National Committee.
Are there any other alternatives out there? Can someone suggest a better solution?
Please give this your thoughts and bring them along to the Sunday meet at the Digby Pub on Sunday.

Good news!!!

Maria's out and stopping at ours for a while. Bob's had his op and could be out for the weekend, he's had a few metal screws and plates put in his leg so if you are looking for Christmas pressies for him...BUY FRIDGE MAGNETS .

Forgot to mention a MASSIVE THANKS to Jackie and the rest of the crew who were out on the ride back from Barmouth. Jackie did an absolute fantastic job being a nurse and sorted out Bob and Maria immediately at the scene, dealt with the Paramedic and ambulance crews when they all arrived and oversaw the stitching up of Maria back at the hospital. As for the rest of the party, tyaffic control was well dealt with at the scene and everybody did as much as could be possibly done at the time.

We certainly showed that the team works well!!

Unfortunatley Maria was not discharged today and the Docs didn't let her know in time before Stan was at the Hospital - He saw Maria and a big hug was required - fingers crossed she'll be out tomorrow so Stan will go to pick her up then. As Stan was not family and it wasn't visiting time - they wouldn't let him in to say Hi :(

Hopefully they will both have a speedy recovery - Maria's phone is topped up so I'm sure any texts would be welcomed.

Hi all.

As you more than likely know, Bobo and Maria were involved in an accident coming back from Barmouth last weekend. Ivan has put a piece in the blogs giving a roundup of injuries and condition of both of them. The latest is that Bobo has a dislocated fracture in his right leg, Maria has cuts and bruises, a lurvely scar on the forehead (Looks like the one Harry Potters got ), but also a fractured skull and cheekbone. Looks like both of them will still be in for a few more days at the Shrewsbury Royal Hospital; folks are ringing and visiting as and when they can.

If anyone who is calling or visiting has any further upto date info, can they drop it on hear so as all are aware.

It goes without saying that all of the club wish them a speedy recovery and a return to normality (if that really is possible ).

As for the bike, that's with Russ at K2, Stoke getting estimates done. Crashbars seemed to take the brunt of the impact so we'll just see how that one pans out.

Sorry you had trouble getting the full text on the website. There is a time-out of about 10 or 15 minutes and this is there for security reasons so that anybody's logged in session doesn't get compromised. The best way to get round this limitation is to prepare the text in Word or a text file off line then to copy and paste it in the blog or forum when you're on line. In fact if you prepare in word the system will largely preserve the formatting when you paste it in.

Thanks for letting me know about the 'no contents'. I can see that your pages are not displaying so I'll get that sorted out. But I'm not sure what you feel is missing in the News and Events sections.

I shall be at the meet on Thursday I'll see you then to discuss further.

Crikey Ian that was like reading WAR and Peace!! But hopefully more PEACE than war.

Dippy reading your comments about someone new and impartial becoming rep, I admit that I thought the same last year, and the result was CONAN. He was a total fresh start and the committee at that time were his biggest supporters. But sadly with inexperience and maybe too much too soon, it looks like Conan couldn't deal with the task at hand.

So as that approach hasn't gone smoothly at all! I think experience would be far better, I am not saying that it has to be Ian, I am saying that someone who has proven in the past to have a cool head and good team spirit and can lead.

A few of us thought when Ian stood down that it would benefit the club, Centre 8 would be a strong club and that was all that was important. I agree with Nigels comment above, I regret having those thoughts as I can now see that Ian was doing a bloody good job with Centre 8 at heart always. The club has dwindled, morale is low, and as you put Dippy, many aren't sure if they want to be members anymore.

I certainly would like to move away from violence, warnings and threatening messages, and get back to games, drinking dancing and good times! I'm SPARTACUS!

Just to clarify a few things that I said at the weekend in reply to your questions, I'll bulletpoint them so as hopefully others will read if they feel that they didn't fully understand where I was coming from:

1 - As far as I'm concerned, there is no "fighting" between me and Steve Lee, our Current Rep' and on the day I think you'll agree that I nor Steve put either person down as you state. In fact, Steve gave a speech regarding his position in the club which fuelled responses from other members at the Sunday meeting. If you remember, I was not party to the arguements thats developed and waited until Steve had finished before I had my say...my say having nothing to do with putting Steve down.

2 - As it is normal with our club, there is a timescale for members (Full members) to inform the Current Committee of their intention to stand for a Committee position. I was approached by a number of members prior to an during the rally in Barnoldswick and asked if I would consider restanding as they were dissatisfied with the current situation within the Committee, that being Steve's approach, manner, etc. These members were looking to leave the club, move to other Centres, turn their back on the club and were infact long-term members who gave alot to the club. As I said at the meeting on Sunday, I took some time to consider restanding, as I saw things, I'd done "My Time", however, seeing the way that the club has diminished in size and concerns from current members, I informed Steve that I would put my name forward and "represent" those members who are currently unhappy. I am only representing members and if any "totally new and impartial person" wishes to stand, he or she has that right and I don't see any problem with that. It must always be that the club wins everytime and as I've always maintained "no one is bigger than the club itself" and I certainly don't make any claims that I am that. I'm a member that is offering the club membership a choice; as is Steve, as is anyone else that wants to run for a position. Has long as the club thrives, has a fun attitude around is and members are happy, who cares whose running it, as that person is doing the job that the members want to be done...make things enjoyable.

3 - I stepped down from the Club Rep due to family illness and work pressure as you rightly say. As everyone knows, the family illness is now no more and it is only work that stand in my way of attending the Thursday meeting at the Minerva, this is now the only thing that I can't fully commit to as all other events, rallies, Sunday meeting, parties I can fully commit to, and as Current and past Committee members will tell you, there's alot that goes on that members don't see behind the scenes to make a club successful, ie, going to see bands for future events, phonecalls and appointments to go and check venues out, sitting on the phone for lengths of time takling to members that have mechanical problems, and at time personal problems, etc. All of these I can commit to to the same level as I did in the past.

4 - I think that you must of misinterpreted the point on Committee should I be accepted as Rep', and so as no one is in any doubt who may read this I'll say this point again. Previous Committees are made up of Do'er's and Talker, ie, those that will go the extra mile, get their hands dirty, most of the time without even being asked...they just do. On the other hand there are those that will talk a good job, but never really do anything. That's just how folk are made up. However, in my time as Rep' and recently as a normal member, I have come to know that within the club there are a few members:

That are Do'er's
That have the club at their heart and hold a pride for the club and it's members
That doesn't get involved with petty issues within the club
Ultimately likes to have a laugh and not get bogged down in club politics

These people I have come to respect and value their opinions, they have a common outlook...to make the club a fun place to be, friendly and to make the club thrive. Should I be allowed by our members to become Rep' again, I belive that the club deserves the best Committee that is available, based on members willing to stand. In my view, and it is my view only, these people are the Do'er's that this club deserves. Yes, I have said that if members voted for me, I "endorsed" certain members that I hoped members would be willing to accept as their Committee and that a vote for me would automatically be a vote for these people, those people being:

Ivan Cresswell (Vice Rep' and previously approched by members to stand as Rep' when I was standing down)
Bob Rose (Treasurer on the Current Committee and in my time on the Committee)
Tina Forkin (Merchandise on the Current Committee and in my time on the Committee)

These members are not "Yes Men" but are able to form a Committee that can work well together, discuss issues rationally and ultimately I feel take this club forward and back to it's rightfull position...No 1.

Because of what has occurred it is in my opinion that the club needs to be stripped right back, draw a fresh line in the sand and start again...clean slate. To do this, certain protocol needs to be lifted and I feel the second/nominated ruling is not paramount here, what is paramount is getting the club back on an even keel. I'm offering the membership a choice, plain and simple, at the end of the day, the membership will vote as to what they want. I'm not working into a room saying "right I'm in and here's your Committee", I'm saying "here's a choice on how I feel the club needs to go forward, these are my proposals, please take them purely as that and if you like them then vote yes, if you don't like them, then vote no", how simple can that be. Remember, there is a democratic vote here and as always...the club will decide.

5 - The matter of Ivan taking the Thursday meeting is nothing new. Committee members have taken meetings in the absence of the Rep'. In previous meetings, Dave Orton has covered for me, as to Tina, and on this Committee, Tina has covered for Steve. As long as there is someone there to take the meeting that is fully aware of club activities, I don't see a problem and Ivan can run a meeting...when all of the Committee was in the USA, Ivan took the meetings. Me not being there on a Thursday but available for the Sunday meeting does not interfere with the running of the club in any shape or form. Anything that would be discussed at any Thursday meeting would be relayed back to me and the rest of the Committee should any be unable to attend and any "major" decision regarding the club would not be undertaken on a Thursday meet unless a good proportion of the Committee was in attendance to agree anything, failing that there was not a good proportion of the Committee in attendance, discussion with the Committee after the meeting for an answer at the Sunday meeting.

I hope that this clears my position in all of this for anyone who may read this, remember, these are some of the points that I propose, members who attended the Sunday meeting are aware of other proposals I made; but it is down to the club membership to accept or refuse them proposals through a vote. I can only offer ideas...the club will make its decision as to what is in it's best interests.

I do believe that Steve did the right thing by bringing the AGM forward to November 2009 (date to be confirmed), and for that I thank him as it showed good character and respect for the club. I also believe that Steve should still put himself forward as he represents members that are happy with the current position of the club and does have support from. Lastly, should anyone else be looking to stand for any positions, protocol needs to be observed and a Committee Member needs to be informed of your intentions.

The meeting in November should bring about the direction the club wishes to take, be it Steve's direction or mine or any other member wishing to stand proposals.

At the meeting in November I'll go over my proposals again for members that didn't manage to make the Sunday meeting, they are not for printing here as I feel that it will only add to a prolonged forum discussion. An open and frank discussion in November is needed and afterwhich I think that a vote needs to be cast so as we can move on.

It's a strange time for Centre Eight at the minute, the club is at a definate crossroads with, at the moment, two different paths, and as such, members need to make their point clearly and calmly in November, but also look at their own personal situation at that time and decide whether or not the club is one that you want to continue being part of.

I'm Centre Eight through and through, be it a member or Committee, and I'll always respect the decision of the club, no matter what the outcome, no more importantly than at this present time

After putting my post on here last night I have been doing some more thinking about the whole situation, Would it not be possible for club to hire a private room and have an open floor meeting, every member be sent an invite to attend this meeting via post (not everyone has internet access) then every member could be allowed their say about things and if they chose not to say anything or attend this meeting then they have no right to go into a corner and talk about how or who is running the club and this sort of chinese whisper stuff that is very evident at the moment can be nipped in the bud as we all know what happens with these whispers they start of as fact and it don't take long down the line before an individuals thoughts are added and the facts distorted.

Firstly with regard to the tax disc.....It is not the reps or the committees job to police this!! ( if they are going to do this...please check full insurance, MOTs, road worthiness and correct licences) guess what?..we do have a police force to enforce this!

Unless I am mistaken I joined a very friendly, worthwhile bikers club..A lot of the members have seen me through some dark times in my life....and for that I will be eternally grateful. However what the hell is happening??? is this club turning into a DICTATORSHIP or has Conan re-joined the army???

As most of you would have heard I really wanted to attend a rally..to see you friendly guys..but I wasn't allowed too..for various political shit..and pathetic reasons. I will re-new my membership..as the saying goes "once a member always a member".

It is with sadness that I am reading all this crap....but I will support the person who has the club's interest at heart!..

It might have taken me a few years to realize that you Ian, are the best rep this club has ever had! And I really hope that the rest of you see this too.

Gosh this thread has certainly took some reading and re reading and my head is still in a muddle, ( now you know why they call me dippy)

I am hoping to make the meet on Sunday 20th but know that a lot of people won';t be there as its the BMF week so is this really a good time to discuss such things also at the Digby we don't have a private room, should these sort of things be discussed where public can hear it, I personally think not, so would it be possible to have an open forum meeting like we had once before in a private room.

My friend came to club with me for a second time to the last Sunday meeting as a new member she was shocked at how unfriendly everyone seemed, this is a new member we are talking about do we really want new members going away from our ONCE very friendly club saying this.

Hi all

whilst I was not present at the Thursday meet I feel I must try to balance the views, first whilst I agree partly with Bev we as a club DO NOT NEED OR REQUIRE the national committee to be involved in what is a very local matter. I think what would be required is an extraordinary general club meeting to air views and come to some agreement as to the future of the club as this is the most important, not specifically any one individual.

From a personal point of view I have not attended any meetings or rallies for the simple fact I do not find them fun and do not wish to be ordered around in an autocratic manner by any individual.

Knowing Bob as I do I found his comments to be balanced and well rounded and not to give offence understand that we all have to be regulated as it were in regards to tax etc and the responsibilities of the club also have to be taken into account, but there is a way to speak to people or tell them to go to hell in such a way as they look forward to the trip.

We must remember in all this political atmosphere that this is our club and it would be up to the members who we wish at the helm because when it is not fun anymore ( our hobby) folk will vote with their feet and that would be disastrous for Centre 8

It seems to me that at the Sunday meet members will be asked to choose who's version of events they believe. As the members were not in attendance during certain phone calls and text messages, I believe that this will be difficult for members to do. As I also know that there are more issues that were not aired at Thursdays meet, I can see the end result being a mud slinging contest all round. This will only go to serve as entertainment value,and I do not think it will be beneficial to OUR club. Therefore as the committee can not communicate sensibly with one other, I suggest their grievences be put in the hands of the National committee. Then all issues can be aired behind closed doors independantly of rumours that have been flying around for months. After all if we have disputes in our working life we go to our manager/boss for them to resolve.

I think this should have been done many months ago as I know a member was going to approach the national committee earlier in the year. This may have nipped things in the bud if they had been involved earlier and we would not be where we find ourselves today.

Can I just say that somewhere along the line we have lost sight that we are all here because it is our HOBBY. We are not forced to be here, we just want to ride and drink beer and be happy. It seems of late that this has somehow been forgotten and everything is so political - what a shame.

When making any decisions, choices etc. please bear in mind that it is our hobby whereby we forget the hum drum of everyday life and enjoy each others company at meets and rallies. This is certainly not the case at the moment.

Here's something novel...ME, writing on a forum, next they'll be saying that the wheel has been invented...? I caught wind of an entry on the club website this evening and went into have a look. Now not one for using forums for improper use and tit for tat message fueds, etc, etc, I felt that on this particular occaision I had to make a comment to an entry in the forum from Chris (webmaster). Earlier on I emailed Chris in reply to his comments, some information that he may or may not have been privvy to prior to the Thursday meeting at the club. And in response to Steve's entry here, I thought that the same information should be made aware to members so as a balanced view can be made by them, in particularly with Steve's call for a postal vote, something that I fully believe should take place and for PAID UP MEMBERS, BOTH FULL AND ASSOCIATE, IE, "THE MEMBERSHIP CARD HOLDER", to decide the course of the club. This is what I wrote to Chris,..."Moving on from the Membership List, I went onto the club website to get your email address and quickly had a scan around. I dropped into the discussion page and saw that you had made an entry with regards to the Thursday meet. I understand that the night did not go too well, however, quickly reading through the entry, I’m not too sure if you were aware of the full facts that have brought about this “Vote of No Confidence”. In recent months, there has been constant grumblings within the club which culminated in we been asked to reconsider standing again. The decision has been a hard one as I thought I had done my time so to speak. However, with members stating that they would not be renewing come next year, turning their backs on club meetings and some actually contacting National Committee asking to be transferred out of Centre Eights membership tally and to be moved within the Yorkies numbers, something had to be done, hence, I contacted Steve at the Barnoldswick rally to say that I’m considering restanding as Rep’. The consideration of restanding turned into an actual offer in the latter part of last week. Over recent weeks, Steve seems to have adopted a position whereby his approach comes across as wanting to oust Tina off the Committee (for whatever reason I’m unsure). Prolonged and protracted text messages between me and Steve developed, and, other members of the Committee, both current and those recently left have formed the same opinion. In a recent conversation with Bob Rose, we were informed that Steve had spoken to Bob over certain club matters and at one point Steve made comment that “as long as Tina was in this club, he would make her life hell”. Comments like this, whatever the percentage of truth cannot go unchallenged and I understand that Steve refuted the allegation on Thursday...whether his answer would have been different if Bob were at the meeting, who can say? There are alot of disgruntled people with Centre Eight at the minute and Steve is not listening to them, I even in the past mentioned this to him but I don’t think he can see it. It’s not the easiest of jobs running a club but it can be rewarding. I feel partly responsible in Steve’s current position as it may have been too much too soon, but members are not happy with his autocratic way of running the club...the spark has gone! That is why the “Vote” has come about. I’ll be trying to speak to Steve over the course of this week to ask if I can have 2 minutes time within the Sunday meeting to clarify my position on restanding, and after which time I’ll ask the members if they want me to put myself forward or not. I’ve always been one for the club and always respect members decisions on votes what determine the path of the club, this is no different. If there is a high percentage of members who say no, and don’t agree with what I am doing then I won’t stand, if they do agree, then I will stand...it’s that clear cut, hence, it would be good if Steve could send out a blanket text message as he does to advise of club meets, asking all paid up members to make every effort to attend the Sunday meeting this month. It requires a high proportion of the membership to be in attendance to listen to the reason of restanding in a clear way and not passed on second hand to be distorted. A postal vote may not be required if members decide that I should not be standing. Hopefully that clears some of the matter of Thursday and what occurred. If you could pass this onto Steve as soon as please, so as he’s fully aware of what I’ve discussed with you. There is nothing more to discuss on the rights and wrongs of this matter though, so I’d appreciate it if we didn’t get into any prolonged email discussion. Thanks Chris Ian". This will be the only post I'll put on as I don't want to get into any online discussion for all and sundry to witness, however, if anybody wishes to make any comments, I'll be only too happy to discuss them at teh Sunday meeting this month. Any member who may be reading this, I would ask that if you could make the meeting this month, but if you can't make it, no panic...if you have comments to make, jot them down and try to get them to either Steve or Chris, but please mark who sent it. This situation is not about Tax Discs, in fact Tina and I 100% support Members of the Committee enforcing legality of the riders at club meets, rideouts etc., so long as it is done in an appropriate manner.

Below is an explanation of why Tina and I have put a vote of no confidence in Conan:

In reply to Steve Lee’s text to members, I would like to set the record straight:

On Wednesday evening I had a telephone conversation with SL. During a fit of peak he told me that he had a list of members that he felt aggrieved with and that “he was going to jump on them for the slightest infraction and make their lives a misery”

He told me that Tina, Ian, Kevin and Cassie and their circle of friends were at the top of this list. Although, not verbatim, this is a true and accurate account of our conversation and is presented to you as a summary,

I feel this represents a gross misuse of his powers as Rep and constitutes misconduct.

Tina’s and mine actions at the Thursday meet were a reaction to SL’s misconduct and in the interests of Centre8 and its members.

I understand SL has texted you to suggest that our actions were to do with the way he runs Centre8. This is untrue and I feel it to be an effort to shift attention away from his misconduct and to seek undeserved support.

Unlike SL, I do not have a full list of member’s contacts. In the interests of fairness and people making an informed decision will you

please forward this information to other members. Do not be misled as per the reason for our actions against Conan.

As a committee member I was appalled at the what seemed to be an attempt to humiliate Conan in front of all the club members. From what I understand of the issues involved I believe these should have been disccussed first in private by the Committee.

A particular area of contention concerns the display of road tax discs. It would appear that Conan has quite rightly questioned whether some members were in posession of a valid road tax license as they weren't displayed on the bikes. Somehow this has provided justification for some to attempt to remove Conan through a vote of no confidence. What wasn't raised in the 'debate' in Conan's defence was the fact that failure to display a Vehicle Excise Duty disc is a criminal offence and the Centre Rep could be held liable should any accident or other similar misfortune occur involving untaxed bikes or uninsured riders.

I can fully understand why some club members may feel disillusioned and want to reconsider whether Centre 8 is the appropriate club to be in. All I can ask is that you bear with us while the current problems are being resolved.

What a fantastic weekend we had sharing the fun at Terry and Sue's Wedding this past weekend.

I'd just like to say a big Thankyou to everyone who helped Stan and I out over the weekend. Special thanks go to Taff, Denis and Jackie for helping take care of Stan on Friday and of course thanks to my brother, Neil for his accomodation. We also want to say Thanks to Ivan, Jules, Tina and Ian without whom we'd have been stuck in Donny. Tina drove Stan home with Jules and Ian and Ivan rode home with me....Ivan on Stan's bike and ian on Ivan's...we thought it best this way as Ivan is a bit taller LOL. This second owner 56 plate Suzuki Marauder 125cc in immaculate condition garaged all the time and was used by my wife but now I need the room back in the garage. There is absolutely nothing adverse with this bike and it runs as sweet as a nut, and is ideal for someone looking to start his or her biking career.

Unlike most Marauders this one is fitted with a genuine sissy bar and rack and all the other paintwork and chrome is in mint condition.

Just to let everyone know that it's the Stoke Egg Run on Sunday 22nd March - yep Mother's Day, so we can't make it. It's well worth the trip if you can get there as there is usually a bit of a do on at the King's Hall afterwards. The following weekend Sunday 29th is the Wirral Egg Run which is from New Britghton Promenade up to Clatterbridge Hospital (Near where the Wirral rally was last August) - This is a great route as it passes through some lovely areas and the views are great - loads of folk come out to cheer and wave you on - hopefully Stan and I will be doing this, if anyone else is interested maybe we can meet up :)

Don't forget your Eggs or at least a donation/Easter Toy - they are all gratefully recieved and go to the local Children's Hospitals and Hospices.

Phil Sharples (Rep of Centre 6) has invited our members to a garden party at his house.

Phil (and Angie) live in a place called Eaby (about 2.5 hours from Birmingham) in Yorkshire (where they film Emmerdale is a ride away, to give you an idea of where he lives). He has a massive garden which would accommodate about 30 tents. The invite is for the weekend (arriving Friday evening or saturday morning and of course leaving on Sunday). He thought a BBQ and a rideout on the saturday would be nice. A mini rally !!

He has given me some dates, but before I post them, would anyone be interested?

Looking at the events Calendar - there is no end of season & Halloween party dates on there - can you tell me when they are please. Also, is that correct that the bonding weekend will be 1 & 2 August? Only asking, cos not heard anything about it apart from it will be about 1-2 hours ride away. That date clashes with the Scrumpies Party and I know some of our members go to that one.

In the past I have supported this meet most months but unfortunately now I can't afford the petrol to get there so will only be at this meet on very rare occasions.

I have just had an email with details for the 2009 RTTW it would be great to see a good representation of Centre 8 Members this year, as I think I was the only one last year.

This is a copy of the email I received.

Plans are in hand for the next Ride to the Wall to take place on Saturday 10^th October 2009.

This is to let you know that we have a new website for RTTW 2009 .Please point your browser to

All we ask is that you bring some drink with you and sorry to say we do not have the room for everyone to stay overnight. To answer the question "Who is Chris?" Chris is married to a qualified and experienced care nurse who also took part in the Toy Run. She has spent more than 15 years working with children and adults with varying needs. On numerous occasions she has been part of a team in reciept of charitable donations and in every situation a manager would make themeselves available to thank the bearers of the goodwill.

I think, therefore, that we can be considered to have the necessary qualifaction to have an opinion in this respect.

I don’t expect to be thanked and bowed down to, I just felt so good having given so little but which could have a massive benefit to those young children.

Oh! dear Bev has found me out, I actually never ride my bike. I just attend the very occasional meeting and the rest of the time use a drill to increase the miles done on the taco and make up unlikely rallies! So in that vain what do you think of this ( one never knows one of the 30 or so who view this just might comment!) The Southport Original Cruisers hold a Winter Rally each year which avoids muddy fields and staying in tents. The club organises the rally part, bands, booze, social fun etc. and Pontins Southport provide the accomodation in their holiday camp challets. The rally is £12.50 and challet is £12.00 for 2 nights per person. I think the units are in 4s. The dates are 27th, 28th Feband 1st March 09. Tickets for the rally are booked via the club(they have a website but the address escapes me at present) and accom is booked direct with Pontins 2 weeks bofore the event.

Relatives and friends can be very critical of visitors who only have what couldbe described as a curious interest. We live in strange politcally correct times

Myself and Steve said thank you to everyone in the lounge area, As for the staff not giving guided tours I am sure if you would have asked they would showed you around. The staff on duty Sunday where Nurses, not managers, and I would have thought that it was obvious that the children who where there had very high dependency needs, and they were being given there lunch for the majority of our visit.

Great turn out, relatively good weather (for winter) and lots of pressies for the children. Jinny and I very much enjoyed the day but are rather miffed becaused nobody from the home addressed us all to thank us for the effort and tell us a bit about the home. Individual thanks were given by members of the staff and hot drinks were provided.

as some of you are aware Ian's dad has been seriously ill and sadly passed away peacefully Thursday morning. Ian has asked that they receive no phone calls during the next few days as he will be organising the funeral and has things to attend to which require his attention.

There are a band called Camouflage some of you may know from rallies. 'Big' Al is the mad front man who strips down to his shorts during the night. Lots of audience partisipation as he runs around the room.

Just an update on the RTTW Saturday 11th October, it was a shame that Centre 8 didn't put a group together to do this ride as I know our club has several ex service members.

The ride was amazing, so well organised, from the minute I arrived to meet up with other riders at Farthing Lane Curdworth to the time it came to ride back home again from the Arlewas.

I found the whole thing so emotional, for many reasons, listening to the piper playing, the service, the bugle playing the last post, the laying of the wreaths but most of all for feeling so lucky that my own daughter was one of the ones that came home safely from the war if a little emotionally scared.

I will certainly be doing this ride again next year.

This was our first CAT Rally and I must say we had a really good time. As you say, lots of old faces but a lot of new faces. We were so glad that we decided to go and of course the added bonus was seeing you there, Rod (sorry Bob couldn't sign your card on this occasion). Weather was great for the time of year, which was an added bonus. We thoroughly enjoyed it, will be going again next year, I am sure. Maria & Bobo

yes I can relate to all thats been said. I was a keen supporter of the Memba Rally for many years but became disillutioned some time ago. The BMF seems to have lost the plot. I have also looked at MAG. I went to their equivalent to the Memba, Storming the Castle. Whilst I had a good time it was rather caotic, the camping was disorganised and there was a lot of thieving. Personally I have found the smaller "MCC" rallies more to my taste. They are cheap and cheerful and I have always felt welcome

I totally agree with you both Bev and Steve I certainly won't be rushing to spend a week end there again, like Bev said in past years there has been a choice of music tents so you could choose the music that suited your taste, also there seemed to be more of a party atmosphere at the previous tailenders I have been to. I wasn't really aware of an agressive police or steward presence.

I also didn't think there was much in the way of decent stalls there this year, although judging by some of the bags(as in plastic carriers) people were walking around with some people did get what they went for, my only purchase was a Shoei helmet for my daughter which was a bargain a saving of £60 on internet prices and £90 on shop prices.

Having attended the tailender before I must agree that I wasn't impressed with this one,and quite happily wouldn't go again. I didn't notice a heavy police/steward presence, but there was only 1 music venue, it was enclosed with bouncers and you couldn't take your own drinks in. Therefore we didn't go in and didn't see any of the acts. Last time there were 3 different music arenas playing different music and they weren't so enclosed. It was a very open party atmosphere, with the battle of the bands in the day. A real big disappointment for me this year.

Hi, After having attended the tail end and the May show I was disillusioned with the path that the BMF seems to be taking. The Memba rally in May is no longer happening.There was a strong (and more aggressive) police presence at the tail end with bouncers on the doors to all the bars, only one music venue with only beer bought on the premises allowed at £3.80 A CAN ! We still had a good time because we took our own beer tent and drink. I know the VSOC is affiliated to the BMF but is there anything in the rules to say that centre 8 can't affiliate to MAG as well. They put some good rallies on and the emphsis seems to on having a good time rather than making money to pay their full time staff ! I have held a personal membership in the BMF for 20 years but have now cancelled and joined Mag.

I have my ticket already for this event and thought it would be nice to see a group of VSOC centre 8 riding in it, there is already a scrumpy member with their name down although I don't know who they are as actual names aren't listed just who you are representing.

A small contingent of Harley Davidson riders from the UK attended the first Remembrance Day service at the National Memorial Arboretum near Burton on Trent on 11th November 2007.

At the memorial there is a ‘wall’ with 16000 names on, remembering our troops that have died since WW2 through one cause or another.

It was noticed that were a large number of younger people in attendance with the service a very moving experience. It was mentioned by those riders attending as something that should be marked yearly, similar to the event held in the United States, but obviously on a smaller scale.

One of those riders at the event was Martin Dickinson, Director of Nene Valley Chapter who brought the idea of an annual event up at the HOG UK Directors meeting in late 2007. There was an overwhelming response from his fellow Directors and every encouragement given to plan such an event.

Hi Lee, I think everyone would take your point regarding 'BIKE CLUB'. However you will find that the Tailender is not so much a bike meet, etc. More of a party with lots of stalls selling bike stuff. I for one would find it impossible to buy much and transport it all home, with camping gear and 2 up. Most people will attend by car purely for logistical reasons carrying boxes and boxes of goodies. (plus having a drink or 2 on the evenings)

Regarding Rideouts, tis true there hav'nt been many this year, mostly due to the weather. However there is no reason why any member could not suggest or even head a rideout to a set destination. I think you will find this situation will alter following the sunday meet this month, (28th). Will see you there, ON ME BIKE!

Over the last month I became a victim of a clever scam while out shopping.

Simply going out to get shopping has turned out to be quite traumatic.

Don't

be naive enough to think it couldn't happen to you or your friends.

Here's how the scam works:

Two seriously good looking 20-21 year-old girls come over to your car as you

are packing your shopping into the boot. They both start wiping your

windscreen with a rag and Windolene. With their breasts almost falling out

of their skimpy T-shirts and their bums encased in tight shorts, it is

impossible not to look.

When you thank them and offer them a tip, they say "No" and instead

ask you

for a ride to another branch of Morrisons. You agree and they get in the

backseat. On the way, they start undressing. Then one of them climbs over

into the front seat and starts crawling all over you, whilst distracted the

other one steals your wallet.

I had my wallet stolen on June 4th, 9th,10th, twice on the 15th, 17th, 20th,

and 24th 29th. Also July 1st, 4th, twice on the 8th, 16th, 23rd, 26th, 30th,

three times last Saturday and very likely again this coming weekend.

So tell your friends to be careful.

Ride out to Barmouth Sept 7th

There will be a Ride out to Barmouth on Sunday 7th Sept,Meeting at Dinkeies Diner on the road from Shrewsbury to Welshpool A458.

Meeting 10 00 hours to leave at 10 30 hours,please arrive with full tank of petrol,if you want to have a breakfast before you leave Dinkies please arive early as not to hold up the ride.

Leave Dinkies at 10 30 hours, 1 stop on way arrive at Barmouth approx 12 00 hours ,leave Barmouth 1400 hours ,1 stop at Bala, then onto Llangollen where we will split the ride,1 group to head off towards Stoke and the south bound will head towards Shrewsbury.

Hope to see a good turn out from the club and any friends,potential new members welcombe.

IT Problem

Ho Ho! I've seen something like this before.

18 months ago, I upgraded to Girlfriend 1.0 from DrinkingMates 4.2, which I had used for years without any trouble. However, there are apparently conflicts between these two products and the only solution was to try and run Girlfriend 1.0 with the sound turned off.

To make matters worse, Girlfriend 1.0 is incompatible with several other applications, such as LadsNightOut 3.1, Football 4.5, and Playboy 6.9. Successive versions of GirlFriend proved no better.

I tried a shareware program, Slapper 2.1, but it had many bugs and left a virus in my system, forcing me to shut down completely for several weeks. Eventually, I tried to run GirlFriend 1.2 and Girlfriend 1.0 at the same time, only to discover that when these two systems detected each other they caused severe damage to my hardware.

I eventually upgraded to Fiancée 1.0, only to discover that this product soon had to be upgraded further to Wife 1.0. While Wife 1.0 tends to use up all my available resources, it does come bundled with FreeSexPlus and Cleanhouse2005.

Shortly after this upgrade, however, I found that Wife 1.0 could be very unstable and costly to run. Any mistakes I made were automatically stored in Wife 1.0's memory and could not be deleted. They then resurfaced months later when I had forgotten about them. Wife 1.0 also has an automatic Diary, Explorer and E-mail filter, and can, without warning, launch TurboStrop and Multi-Whinge. These latter products have no Help files, and I have to try to guess what the problem is.

Additional problems are that Wife 1.0 needs updating regularly, requiring ShoeShop Browser for new attachments and Hairstyle Express which needs to be reinstalled every other week. Also, when Wife 1.0 attaches itself to my Saab 93 Convertible hard drive, it often crashes.

Wife 1.0 also comes with an irritating pop-up called MotherInLaw, which can't be turned off.

Recently I've been tempted to install Mistress 2005, but there could be problems. A friend of mine has alerted me to the fact that if Wife 1.0 detects Mistress 2005, it tends to delete all of your Money before uninstalling itself.

First keep in mind, Boyfriend 5.0 is an Entertainment Package, while Husband 1.0 is an Operating System. Try entering the command: C:/I-THOUGHT-YOU-LOVED-ME to download Tears 6.2, which should automatically install Guilt 3.0. If that application works as designed, Husband 1.0 should then automatically run the applications Jewellery 2.0 and Flowers 3.5. But remember, overuse of the above application can cause Husband 1.0 to default to Grumpy Silence 2.5, Happy Hour 7.0, or Beer 6.1.

WARNING: Beer 6.1 is a very nasty program that will create Snoring Loudly.

CAUTION: Whatever you do, DO NOT install Mother-in-law. This is not a supported application and will crash Husband 1.0.

In summary, Husband 1.0 is a great program, but it does have limited memory and cannot learn new applications quickly. You might consider buying additional software to improve memory and performance. I personally recommend Hot Food 3.0 and Lingerie 7.7.

Dear Club members:
Last year I upgraded from Boyfriend 5.0 to Husband 1.0 and noticed a distinct slow down in the overall performance, particularly in the Flower and jewellery applications, which operated flawlessly under Boyfriend 5.0.

In addition, Husband 1.0 un-installed many other valuable programs, such as Romance 9.5 and Personal Attention 6.5 and then installed undesirable programs such as: Football 5.0, Rugby 4.3 and Cricket 3.0. Conversation 8.0 no longer runs; it simply crashes the system. I've tried running Nagging 5.3 to fix these problems, to no avail. What can I do?

Its well worth going, its held at a holiday site in Wem, Shrops. Good facilities but a biker atmosphere. Oh! yes bikes only!!!

just a quick point - wmbikers started with 3 members from scratch only six weeks ago - yet has had over 1454 posts in that time and gained 60 members. I dont know why its so successful - its made up of maybe 12 actual active club members yet we have attracted a great following !

The website is fantastic advert for our club - incredibly professional and i really appreciate all the hard work it must have taken to get there. well all sorted for the big day, all who are camping and arriving on the Friday can be at the Potters Lodge form four onwards for the weekend. Due to certain reasons as you can read on their website....the organisers of the RBCS 2008 have cancelled the event for this year. A big shame as this was the 25th anniversary and it was on a new site. Hopeing to go to the Bulldog now but who knows if this will go ahead - apparently they are reviewing the licence application next week so we'll find out then I guess. This comes on the back of Ink and iron being cancelled aswell !

I am reluctant to answer your poll for one main reason.

I think the forum in general should be left visible to non members so that they can see what we get up to, this might help prospective members in making their minds up whether to join the club or not. I think anyone on the outside looking in can get quite a good mental picture of the members from the forum.

However I do feel there should be a closed area for member only discussions where details of a personal or sensitive nature may be aired in private.

I would like to know what the club think about whether the Forum is open to everybody who visits the website or only available to Centre 8 website members.

To guage opinion I have opened up a poll on the website. When you log in you will see the poll on the left hand column of the main page. You will only be able to cast one vote. Thereafter the poll will just illustrate how the vote is going.

I shall close the poll after two weeks and make the required changes to the website according to the majority vote.

Yep...we certianly did go to the US with our bikes....We all had a fantastic time and I'm sure photos etc will find their way onto here. If the rest of the gang are anything like Stan and I they'll have around 4-500 photos.....so I would imagine everyone is trying to get a chance to sort through them. I've downloaded mine to the PC but haven't yet edited them.

If you are going to the Jumpstart I'm sure you'll get a chance to catch up with some of stories. You'll recognise us all as we'll be the ones in the cars as the bikes are on their journey home ! If not...keep watching the website.

Am thinking of suggesting an Easter egg run. To my house! People could bring me choccie eggs (I prefer Cadburys) Or I'm quite partial to cake too. Carrot cake would go with the Eater Bunny theme. In fact feel free to leave any gifts for me. Does anyone else think this is a good idea?

It only happens when im logged in, to reply now i have to log out, press reply and then log in, i can then reply but cant read the reply until i log out

yea was logged on.

Was using IE6 when that came up, but seems ok when using aol software, most of the time its the other way around though, ill keep playing with it to c if it keeps happening

Good News Folks!!! - another bug fixed.

After you have logged into the web site you have the ability to edit your web site details and add an avatar (small picture) of yourself.

Some of you may have experienced problems in using this page to edit and save your details. I think I have fixed this problem so please give it another try.
